Los Angeles
is more than
just a single
big dot on a map;
as all major cities
are more than
just a single dot.
Upon closer inspection,
there is East LA,
Gardena, Torrance, Long Beach
Silverlake, Hawthorne, Hollywood, Echo Park
Eagle Rock, Downtown LA, Koreatown,
Mid-Wilshire, Santa Monica, Venice,
Watts, Inglewood, and
those are only the ones
I can remember.
Each with its own distinct
personality and definition,
history and reputation,
As ones who live here
let’s not let ourselves get lost
in conflating everything
to that one
single dot.
