under the music.
The sounds we make ourselves
can be beautiful, yes, but sometimes,
sometimes
it is only there because we
cannot stand the thought
of hearing nothing.
If we listened carefully,
though, to the quiet
we might catch her breath
around us, speaking to us
What would our world
sound like if we had no
stereos in our cars, if we
couldn’t drown out the sound
of traffic, if we couldn’t escape
from the sound of bulldozers and
lawnmowers and leafblowers?
What would our world sound like?
And what
would our lives
look like
if we spent
more time
listening
to quiet?
