We couldn’t
for the life of us
find our way to
the DWP building
After two hours of
meandering through
a maze of one-way streets
and congested highways
we finally found our way,
had a belated sushi lunch,
then intentionally wandered
around town.
The memory’s such a haze, now
but every time
I stand there on Fifth
staring up at Central Library
I feel that rush again
I feel that young again
I guess
that day
spent lost
was a preview
though I never
thought of it
that way
’til now.
