do not be fooled by the ways
this city seems built to divide us
it is true that the highways
are sometimes like barricades
that gridlock sometimes pushes us to the edges of sanity
that smog obscures our vision of our skyline and our mountains
but
this city also shows us what it is to go forth
with sincere desire to find our destinations
to seek connection unabashedly because we must
to love with is and what is yet to be
