one of those mornings
that came after a
sleepless night
spent driving all
over town
searching for an
answer in the
sharp blink of
stoplights
Gas was cheaper, then
twenty bucks a week
could get you enough
for hours of aimless
driving down miles
and miles of
indifferent highway
In the dark
they all look the same
It was one of those
mornings when
you find yourself
somewhere
with bags under
your eyes
and no
change of
clothes
when you say
to yourself
there’s more than this
out there
still
but right now
this
just this
is enough.
