choices

if, at some point,
i can look back at my life
and see that i
followed no one,
compromised nothing,
sacrificed no dreams,

there is no guarantee
that i will also be able
to look into a mirror
and see a happy being

but that’s life
deciding what to hold onto
what to let go
and going on.
