in a desert
where giant pipes
bring in water from
distant rivers
while our own rivers
evaporate from banks
paved with concrete
where water is poured into
patches of green grass
that we prefer
no one step on
where i was taught
to take care
never to piss near a stream
in the wilderness
and to always
shit in water
in the city
this
is civilization?
