political
instinct
survival
as much
on my mind
as injustice
this does not
have to be
the way it is
and it won’t be
not always

is just another day

when people are fighting

when people are working

to make the next day
better than
the days
before
some next day
that we hope
our volume on may day
will make
not so far away
