i breathe slowly

move quietly back
into this place
this pace

i know how
to live this life
here

though i lived
another for a
brief lifetime

now

away from the
mountains and
the river

away from the
granite and
rattlesnakes

away from the
pine trees and
chipmunks

away from the
long sweaty
days carrying
heavy loads
on our backs

i move through
a familiar world
in a new skin

some things have
been peeled back
some things have
been revealed

what was previously
unimagined
is now a dazzling
dizzying reality

i wil learn
to accept
and extend
invitation.
